Useless "Hudson" items on Ebay Motors

You may be getting a bit weary of opening Ebay Motors and finding 5,000 items listed for "Hudsons" -- then discovering that 4,000 of them consist of fuzzy dice, universal-fit plastic terminal blocks, bobble-heads, shifter knobs and accessory ashtrays that "fit Hudson".

If you don't already know a way of blocking out most of this extraneous junk, and of finding "real" Hudson stuff, here's one way:

First, you can hit the "Auctions Only" file tab (just to the right of "REFINE SEARCH") and you'll block out about 4/5 of the extraneous stuff. (People who sell that junk generally do it on a "buy it now" basis, with no bidding, though you will find an occasional true Hudson item that's only "buy it now".)

Then, you can type "Hudson, -fits Hudson" in the little Ebay search window at the top left and hit the search button again, and you'll get down to about 750 items. The minus sign means you want to screen out any listing with the phrase "fits Hudson" following it.

You can actually add other items to your "screen 'em out" list by adding a comma, then another minus sign followed by whatever items you don't want to see. Adding "-motorcycle" refined my search by another dozen items, for example.

Many of you know how to do this (and may have an even better method) but for those who are discouraged by the prospect of weeding through 5,000 items for the real Hudson stuff, this would be a start.

  • Also, click on the "Vintage Car and Truck Parts" portion, that weeds out nearly all of the junk, trinkets, and generic crap, giving you nothing but Hudson parts.
