stepdown quarter panels

Matt, If your car is as it was from the factory, then no, there are no spotwelds to contend with. The rear fender should have 11(if I remember correctly) bolts on the top of the fender,3 on the 'b' pillar and 2 on the rear section in back of the rounded bumper corner sections. The sheet metal screws holding the fender down on the side frame rail of the car are accessed by the removal of the eyebrow drip moulding(in your case stainless steel) there will be about 8 or so of these.0

That is excellent. Thanks so much for answering quickly!0

And dont loose those 10 or 11 bolts they have a speacial thread on them. You will find all the step down fenders were bolted on exept for the rear ones on the 54 cars.

I'm thinking AMC used those bolts on my 66 Rambler too. Not positive on that though...0 -
Use a lot of WD 40 or similar and let it soak for awhile between doses. And a lot of patience. They are fine thread and don't like to come out without stripping.
I maybe telling you something you know. If so I apologize.
If you can get them started out, spray them and re tighten, back out a little more and re tighten. do this several times over a few days and it's an easy job.
When they're off would be a good time to sandblast and repair any frame spots & anything else. Probably be a long time before you're in there again. Lol.0 -
No the ones I mean are the ones across the top. They are like maybe 3/8 bolts with course square cut thread's. And were used along with metal plates to keep from distorting the metal.

You will have to remove the rear quarter windows as there is 3 screws there to remove. Don't break the glass trying to get them out any other way. After all work is done, and panels and the body parts are painted, put a thin line of body corking on the body side and just above the holes, and must have 3 people, one in front and one in rear and you install the bolts back in. After it's locked on good and tight, use a tooth pick to remove any body sealer that shows on top. You will never have a water leak into the trunk. Walt.0

Walt, Does this also apply to the rear windows on a 1950 Pacemaker sedan (accessing the 3 screws)? Thanks for your response!

To do any rear glass work on the 2 piece rear window takes 3 people. Must remove the rear seat and back. One inside to push glass out as you work the glass rubber away from the body, starting at the top. One outside on the left side and one on the right side. This is not a one man job. You also have to remove the 3 screws that hold the center glass molding. Walt0

I've replaced several Quarter panels on differnt years and never
took out a window. The bolts are a little difficult to reach
but very doable.

Thanks Hudzilla! I have all four NOS quarter panels for my Pacemaker Deluxe sedan which I eventually plan to use. I was fearful that I'd have to pull the side windows out when I or someone else gets around to removing and replacing the rear quarter panels.
