The sidemount was frozen on the 37 PU and I am attempting to take it apart for cleaning and de-rusting. I finally got the arm free to move but how do you take it off the tower? I have the bolt loose until it freewheels and the collar lined up but can't get it off the tower pin.

    fyi

I just went thru the same ordeal and no expert but will share how I got mine Bracket apart. I had the top bolt unscrewed a lot and the 'arm' would revolve but wouldnt come off. I sprayed pentrant in both ends then let set awhile in both up & down positions. Later, I sprayed again then 'tapped' on the arm lightly until seen movement. It will slide up off but apparently becomes stuck on a pipe 'burr' over time. The inside of the Pipe ie threaded as the Nut for the top bolt so be sure the bolt is backed out all the way and 'loose'.

OK, here is how you take it apart. I made a picture album up.
There are three pins to deal with. I had to drill the upper two out in order to take the big shaft screw out from the upper collar. The collar has to be lined up properly so that a sight hole is in line with the lower screw that prevents the shaft screw from coming out of the shaft. I had an extra one (sidemount), so pictures are from both. I also had to weld a nut over the lower stop screw in order to unscrew it out of the shaft.
    I hope this makes sense!

I had a great deal of trouble with this on my '36T. It is a left hand thread, so you may be trying to turn it the wrong way. Take the whole unit off of the truck and then get it very hot with a torch and get some penetrating oil into it. It will eventually come apart! Good luck!

You can heat it until the cows come home or you melt it in half- but
This one can't come apart until you take out the lock pins. Look at the photo album link I posted to see.
Turning the screw one way raises the coller up until it hits the lock pin, turn it the other way and it goes down until you hit the lock pin again with the upper stop disc. Yours must be different.
