There is no such thing as a '56 232. they only produced 202's and 308's after the merger.0

How did you determine the year of manufacture for the manifold you are proposing to use?
If the manifold was removed from an engine in a 56 Hudson body and the head said 232, there are several things to consider:
1. Was the engine a 308? Check for a rib along lower edge of block.
2. Was 232/262 replacement put into the body ?
3. As Geoff notes, 232/262 not factory origina in 1956.
Finding a #1 option in a 56 is entirely possible. In years past in my more active Hudson hunting days 56 Hudsons incorporating 232/262 heads were found. Interestingly most incorporated 2 BBL OEM inductions. Memory produces one car where the intent was to up performance of the engine. That car was so rusty we removed the engine and left the hulk to a slow oxidizing death. My suspicion about the changes seen are the Midwestern owners were looking for a thrifty method to keep their vehicle operating.
In the case where you know the origins of the manifold and it is from a Wide Block Hudson engine, it will fit 232/262/308 engines.

Some, if not all 232 manifolds, have a single barrel carb with the throttle shaft set up at 90° to that of the 262 twin barrel setup. Not insurmountable, but you need the appropriate pieces from the 232 linkage.0

There is an twin h intake on EBay with a serial number of 5325118,seller claims its a 56 232,I dont know enough about Hudson engines to confirm. Thats why I came to the Experts. I have been looking for one for my wasp that wouldnt break the bank. J.R.0

5325118 casting # on my 55 308. Later model with the internal balance tube.No idea if thats original to my 55 308 but it works fine.0

FYI
Looks like it is a 252 or 308 TWIN H Intake which will interchange from '48 - 56 motors. I think its off a 308 with a 232 head since he describes as 232.....0 -
Sounds like it was just mis-identification by the seller. In addition to no 232's in 1956, I don't think there ever was a twin H for 232. Like TwinH said, casting no. indicates 308 twin H, which will work fine for you.0

Thank Ya very kindly for the help fellas. J.R.0

There's no reason you could not use a twin-H on a 232 motor, it would just bolt on.0

Any part or casting number that starts with a 5 is 1955 or 1956 AMC's. This manifold will fit 48 to 54 6 cylinder engines, but you must have the exhaust manifold also, 48 to 54 manifolds, (exhaust) will not bolt to the 55-56 intake. Walt.0
