Main bearing query.
As it is a holiday here in Oz, I have been fiddling in the back shed and come acroos the following main bearing sets.
I have several of these main bearings sets.
They are in genuine Hudson parts boxes and the boxes are marked 162541
according to the parts manual these bearings suit #5 1941 thru 1950 8 cylinder.
when I take the shells out of the boxes stamped on the bearing shell is 166363 and 166365
these 166 numbers don't appear in the numerical parts record book.
Anybody got any ideas.???

I'd say it's the PN of the shell before babbit. Parts need a unique identifier at each stage of manufacture. Probably the bearing manufacturer's number.0

Thanks U.J. I'll take that as a good enough reason.LOL The thing that threw me was that 46'7 etc parts start with part numbers 166.0
