I was finally forced to sell the 36 Terra ute,we are looking to move up north and every spare cent is needed.Nice bloke named Phil has bought it,he will be joining the club and will have the necessary funds to restore it to a proper standard. In truth, the old car game is too costly for me(and most people who still have mortgages and dont earn more than $35k a year i reckon).Unless you can do everything yourself, which i cant, the constant expense is draining. The occaisional expensive dodgy work doesnt help either!
I hope to return to being a hudson owner once i am more financially secure,am taking out Lotto tickets to fund my future purchase.
I would like to thank the forum members for all their info and help,in particular Huddy 42,Brownie petersen, spenser yarrow, geoff clarke,Walt mordenti
uncle josh, and everyone else who has helped. Its a great forum, keep up the good work fellas, hope to be back as a hudsonite before too long.

Skip, I fully understand the cash flow issue. I have most often had several cars and particularlly one to work on and one next in que. Since retiring a few years ago I have had a battle justifying expending money to work on a restoration. I have sold off most of my cars and am currently trying to fit into a mode of repair and maintenance. One of the great pleasures of becoming old? I expect that in a few years I will be down to one car and trying to figure out how to keep it running? Anyway, visit us often on the Fourm--doesn't cost a penny and you can keep up on what is happening so when you are ready and able you can get back at it.

Well, hope you still hang around here on the forum. As you know, you can still contribute your knowledge and experiences to others. Even if you don't currently own a Hudson. :)

Yes - well do I know about funding for old cars. Despite claims to the contrary military people do not make outlandish salaries - I chose a military career as a petty officer and as a result my Hudson ownership suffered. Kids and bills kept getting in the way.

I seriously doubt I will have another Hudson product - at the age of 74 I really can't work on them any more and my income is barely enough to pay my bills every month much less restore or keep a Hudson maintained as it should be.

I consider myself to be lucky to be in a car club that doesn't have members who toss the fact I am not a Hudson car owner in my face - if there were members like that I probably wouldn't be still in HET. Nobody seems to care if I have a car or not - so I have tried to repay the faith that I can contribute something by building the online library. I have the equipment and the time to scan manuals and other Hudson documents. This is my contribution, and my legacy, to the great people of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club. Thanks for the great ride, people.

  • Skipster,

Keep checking in. Anyone who likes Hudson is welcome. I've been fascinated ever since high school. It took me 26 years to buy one and now I'm not sure that I can afford the finances to keep it (in good shape). I intend to keep trying but understand that I may end up selling it. This is a great forum and the Hudson club is great. The only requirement is liking the Hudson cars and trucks.

Alex, your gift to current and future Hudson owners outweighs any ownership of a Hudson vehicle. You are preserving knowledge. Without knowledge we who own a vehicle won't know important facts.

I am late, but Congratulations on your award at the National Meet. Well deserved! Besides you once owned a Hudson. Those who have owned one at any time in their life are welcome.

Be glad you were able to own it and experience it while you could.
I've sold 13 Hudson and Terraplanes for various financial reasons , but was able to recover and move on to the next.
I don't see another in the future but I enjoy hearing about the people here who are having an unforgettable experince.
My wife still likes to share all the odd things that go with this hobby.

Skipster, I am the recently annointed (self annointed I might add) keeper of the '36T registry for HET. Perhaps you could PM me the name and address of the new owner so I might add him to the '36 Terraplane registry. Thank you.

    G'Day Skip,

Sorry to hear that you have parted with the '36 ute, so glad to have been able to help you when you had a problem, that is the reason guys like us that have been around for many moons are able to guide you in the right direction.

I hope that one day when finaces get better of which they will, that you once again join the Hudson family here in Australia, I was sorry I never had the pleasure of meeting you in person, but, I wish you well and hope you keep in touch .

I would also like to know the new owner so we can keep track of the '36 ute which I have known for many years and would hate to lose track of it.

Keep well mate and all the best.

    Skip,

I have been away for a week and have only now loged on to the forum, so sorry to hear you had to sell the ute but if moving up north is around Brisbane give me a call as it would be great to meet you in person. Don't give up on owning a Hudson product again.

    cheers Spencer.
