The purchase is final and I now own the 53 Hornet. I have gotten transport quotes from 10 carriers from $805 to $1250 to transport the car from Arroyo Grande CA 93420 to Tucker GA 30084. I thought I'd ask here before committing to an auto transport co. If anyone on the forum knows someone that would be interested in hauling the car I'd like to hear from them. Mileage is 2,237 miles. The high quote is for an enclosed trailer. Thanks, Richie.

    For what it's worth, I'll tell you about my adventure in auto transport. Bought a car in Mass and arranged transport to Tenn. Got a quote of $485 for the 750 mile trip, sent a check for $250 with the remainder due on delivery. Got a confirmed pick up date for two weeks later. The day came and no pick up. I called the company and the run around began. Finally, 3 weeks later, got a call that the driver was on the way, but I would owe him $750 on delivery. Turns out the broker offers a price then posts the job on an electronic board and hopes someone will take the offer. No offer, no transport. My options were to accept the deal, turn it down and start over(losing my $250), or try to make a deal with the transport driver. Luckily, I was able to make a deal, but still a hassle. My advice, use a transport company that has its own trucks. Never use a broker. They get their money up front, so have little or no incentive to help YOU, they are likely not going to get any return business so just don't care if you are happy or not. The low ball price is probably not the best price for the service.

    Thanks Joe, I have been through that myself 3 cars ago. The last two worked out just fine, but neither of those two companies are still in business. I'll go with a 5 star, BBB approved company. Thanks again for your comment. Richie.

    Club Member Jim brought my car from SoCal to Santa Fe and provided a great service and price. I would use him again any time.

    I used USHIP.com to move my shop equipment and it was a great site. my money was guaranteed and the shipping company didnt get their money until i was satisfied. they will find you a car transport and they are checked out. They get you bids and you select the one you like. all have ratings from customers. I was really satified with them and would use them anytime.

    :whistle: I used USHIP.com they helped find a shipper and the shipping company only gets their money when you are satisfied. I shipped my shop equipment in a semi and was really satified with who i chose. you get bids through their company and you choose who will haul your stuff or car. I got many quotes and picked one that was here the next day. all the companies that reply are checked by uship so they are dependable and you can research them from customer feedback. I will use them again when i ship anything again. your money is sent to uship with a small fee and only released to the shipper when you give them the OK.

    i tried to contact a couple of folks who advertise car transportation,& i was pretty unhappy with their back-n-forth crap & attitudes! HELL if i want attitude i'll go & talk to my 15yr old daughter!:woohoo:

    Update, the 53 Hornet was picked up from arroyo grande Ca. 93420 on 1-30-12 and delivered on 2-5-12. The transport went well with no problems. Richie.
