Brake rivet machine

I recently acquired this machine and would like to learn how to use it.
Does anyone recognize this and can tell me how to use it?

    I don't think there's a lot to it. I recall watching an 80-something guy mounting new brake lining on my Terraplane's shoes, back about 1972. You just hold the brake shoe with the pad placed over it, over the mandril (or whatever you call it), drop a rivet in place (head is on the lining side), then push down on the treadle at the bottom.

    Of course first you'll have to buy some rivets...

    I'm not sure what the motor is; possibly holds a wire brush for cleaning up the shoe, or a grinder for tapering the two ends of the lining?

    Any one interested in a machine to trim the shoes to the exact radius of the brake drum? I have the literature that describes the machine and how to operate it. hetpbebop at gmail.comhet drop the het. Bob P

    There should be several dies of different sizes for removing and replacing the rivets in the shoes. Use of the correct die/punch will allow you to remove the old rivets. Change the die/punch to install the new rivets. DON'T completely set your rivets until ALL rivets have been fit in place. I lightly set each rivet, starting from the center of the shoe and working toward the end, until all rivets are in place then finish the set. Setting the rivets too firmly can break the lining so be careful. I also don't know what the motor is for unless it's for cleaning the shoe as described previously.
