Rudy-- Great project!0
-
Sure glad they're putting just a short piece of filler pipe on those tanks ... they're a bear to maneuver into place with the original long filler pipe. I note the SS tanks are larger (20 gal. vs. 16 1/2) ... will the original straps and hardware still be usable?0
-
Why stainless? The originals lasted 50+ years and stainless is costly vs mild steel. What about stepdowns?0
-
Thanks Park, the SS straps come with the tank and they are an inch and a half longer.
Ron, i ask the same, and they said, thats the way we want it.

They will build a tank for a 1953 very soon as another local hudson owner put the order in yesterday and as soon sa he gets it we will check for proper fit and let all know.0 -
Geez, I'd have to work up some nerve to paint one of these critters! Looks super just bare "nekkid"!.0
-
FYI
Tanks look great... If I bought one I would try buffing to lusterous because I dont think paint would adhere real well...0 -
Are there plans for makeing 46-47 PU tanks?

Just found out that a friend of mine bought his tank from ricks for his 33 Chevy. He was very happy with it and paid the same price.0

Thanks to all but,I should have told all that the reason the 47 and back has NO Vent is , The filler pipe is almost on top of the tank and does not have to lift the fuel up to properly fill it. The 48-54 tanks fill from the side of the tank and just below the top ,and as the tank is getting filled to the filler tube on the side and,the top mounted Vent is plugged for some reason the fuel will kick back out of the filler pipe before it is full. (to days fuel foams a lot and that causes the fuel nozzel to stop to soon).
My new SS tank on the 46 is so easy to fill that it will be fuel when the nozzle cuts the fuel off. Hudsonly Rudy0
