oil breather tube
I have a 53' Jet with a 202, I don't know how long it has been setting idle, I think maybe 6 or 7 years, anyway I have it running pretty good. I have had the carb rebuilt, points, wires, plugs radiator cleaned and checked, gas tank cleaned and sealed, most of the usual stuff. I noticed last night that right below the oil breather tube, there is some oil on the floor, is it getting blow-by or is the tube stopped up and it isn't breathing good?? I remeber my dad saying that they used to get stopped up a lot and you had to clean them once and a while.
Also I have put marvel mystory oil in it. When it idles for a few minutes, I notice some smoke, but it seems to clear up some after a while.
Thanks, Barry Smedley

Barry, if the tube was stopped up you wouldn;t be getting anything out of it! It is most likely just semi-vapourised oil mist which is gatheringon the inside of the tube and then condesing and dripping down. A lot depends on the condition of your engine, and you may just need to give it a bit of runing to allow the rings to seal up again if the MML has loosened things up. Good luck with your Jet, they are a marvellous little machine. I've had a '54 Jet Liner for 35 years and had a great run out of it, doing over 150,000 miles.
