i finally found the part number and ordered the voltage regulator for my generator. i see it has this condenser on the outside, i thought i should try to replace it if it's not too high. does anyone know what part to get to replace it???
i don't know if the gen works or not but turns free and smooth and i oiled up the front and rear bearings. thanks for any info, stacy

That condenser is for reduction of generator interference in the radio. Don't worry about it 'till you have your radio in and operating. Generator interference is a loud 'scream' louder with increased engine speede. It usually sounds like a siren coming thru the radio speaker. If you need one, get a hold of me, I'm listed in the WTN as radio advisor. Steve.

If you want to replace yours, here are some part numbers. The difference between these part numbers is in the connector. I am not sure if the NAPA Echlin RC1 is a Radio Suppression Condenser. NAPA calls it a Distributor Condenser.

    NAPA Echlin RC1
    NAPA Echlin RC2
    NAPA Echlin RR186
    or
    Standard Motor Products RC1
    Standard Motor Products RC2
    Standard Motor Products RC51
    or
    Borg Warner/BWD G83
    Borg Warner/BWD G137
