Aussie special?? Essex badge

Was this badge ever used in USA? First one of these for me...RD0
-
This was a special badge putout by Dalgetys Australia (see the logo on the badge) for 1928 models sold there.0
-
Per Aussie Jim Scammell, the script in the corner of the badge is an intertwining of the letters D C L, standing for Dalgety & Coy, Ltd., the Sydney, AU Hudson distributor.0
-
Dalgety remained Hudson distributors right through to the stepdown era. I have seen, and may even have somewhere, an oval brass plate with Dalgety on it in cursive script that was fixed to the stepdown firewall.0
-
Here are some pics of different colors some with Dalgetys script some without also brass plates0 -
Spencer, Those are nice. Are there many of those around anymore? I would like to have one of the ones with the flying lady on it.0
-
I don't want to burst your bubble, but it's actually a flying man!0
-
I think "Fighter Pilot" sounds a bit more macho than flying man? So I would like to find one that has the "greek" mythological fighter pilot on it-- come to think of it, that does not sound all that much better....
I would expect that would mean that this is a representation of Icarus, son of Daedalus escaping from Crete with his wings attached by wax? I think that is how the story is told?
Anyway, I would like to find one.....0 -
Fighter pilot??? Apparently they were fond of hood ornaments too.

Yep, flying man, just like the hood ornaments. Reminds me of bent metal saying, "It's a DUDE, man!".
Spencer, those are really nice. Great collection.0 -

That is a cool blog. Fighter pilots are a different sort. My Air Force "era" was from the F100 to the F105 and F16. I was a Wing First Shirt that covered the aircraft mentioned.0 -
