More on 36, 37 and 38 trunk shelves
I looked at Plate 33 in hetclub.org/burr/manuals/1938_hudson-terraplane_parts_book.pdf and observed that the rear compartment floorboard (aka trunk shelf) looks exactly like the shelf that I am reproducing. This is encouraging as it could mean that Hudson may have used the same trunk shelves for 1936, 1937(?) and 1938. The part#'s for the trunk shelf are not listed in the Hudson Interchange record.
If anyone has an original trunk shelf for 1937 or 1938, could you take measurements of it and post them here?
My shelves are 45 inches X 27 3/4 inches. The trunk shelf supports (aka rear compartment floorboard risers) are 24 inches long for the left and 21 inches long for the right one. Both are 7.5 inches high.

Just a caution --
You now have two threads on the same topic, floating around on the Hudson Forum. Each of them may attract helpful replies, so be sure to check both of them.0 -
I would check the measurements closely. The '36 is at least 5" more narrow than the '37 and the '38 is a different shape altogether. Most stuff for a '36 is one year only.0

FYI
I just made a trunk shelf using a crumbling pattern from a '37 Hudson because shelfs were unavailable previously. Mine isnt as nice made from plywood with no wood working tools but glad to see Shelfs available now since their handy for extra storage.
However, I suggest building shelfs to the specific Year to ensure fitament. Mine measures 46 3/4"W x 24"D. (The original shelf was partially rotted so size could be slightly different).0 -
Thank you for your comments. I know that I have 2 threads on this forum for the same topic.
From what I can get from your comments, it seems that the 36 year was a unique year. It looks like the shelves that I am making will only fit certain models of the 36 line which is okay. I have only seen one 1937 in person and that was 35+ years ago so my memory is not THAT good. As I said in my other thread, I can build a new shelf in less than a week. I have geared up to initially create 5 shelves which I will store until needed. One problem is that the parts catalogs indicate that there were more than one shelf size that Hudson offered. The shelves were built to allow different widths of tires (6.00, 6.50 and 7.00). I do not know which tire size my shelves will allow. My risers are 7 1/2" high.0 -
