e-bay parts

Pretty annoying when you go thru 12 pages of ads and 90% of them are for plastic hubcaps and car covers. All from the same vendor, he must think we have to read something several hundred times before we know what we read. I know this was talked about before but it is really annoying. I like to search all the new items that are added daily and not have to go thru all his crap. He does not have "Buy It Now" so you cannot change your auction to "auction only" and avoid him. Just venting, Richie.

ChopperChuck, I been agitating people in this here club for 43 years :woohoo: and all I got out of it was a headache!!!!!!!! The few things I've been able to change have made it worth while for sure

I have had a lot of fun with HET and wouldn't trade a minute for anything.

Amen Alex! I agree with you on the HET as well. And I for one am very grateful for people like you, Walt,Al S, Lance, and many others.

I have been helped by others on how to put in the search to eliminate some of the crud in the past.
Put in: (Hudson,Terraplane) - cover - mat etc etc
the - and spaces after are what help to eliminate that 'stuff'.
    Good luck,
    Jeff

But the cunning swine are now listing things as generic hub caps as "Hudson Hub caps" not just "fits Hudson".

I fully agree about all the crap at E-Buy, you have the same situation no matter if you search for Hudson or Impala.
I believe it will lead to end of E-bay era if they don’t take care of the situation.
From us that lives overseas E-bay is a really good source for Hudson parts since very little parts are available here.
I've tried to "report seller for listing same stuff multiple times" but it doesn’t seems to help.

Been playing with this crap type of listings since I vented a few weeks ago. I have found that if I do a search for "Hudson Antique Parts" it cuts a big part of them out. Then if I do a "Terraplane Antique Parts" I get a listing and then "Essex Antique Parts" I have my final look see. If I try "Hudson Essex Terraplane Antique Parts" I end up with a big "O"? I spent one day posting a "question" (i.e. on his site asking if these caps would fit his body where the sun does not shine and did not get any response--but I felt a bit better) I wish there was something that could be done....
  • What I don't understand is the fact that they are spending quite a bit of money to run pages and pages of advertising in an unlikely sales category. The only thing that I can think of is that all of you guy's are buying large quantities of car covers and hub caps.
I'm going to be checking at Gettysburg.

It is super annoying to have to sift through repeats of ads of non applicable items. I find if you check the "used" button in the condition parimeters it eliminates alot of the fluff.

As far as the listings go, I believe there are incentives from eBay to sellers to list many things as it is also cheaper to open a store and list things and your current listed product count lowers your selling fees per item, depending. They wouldnt do it if it actually cost more money.

I browse ebay a lot, buy some stuff, and sell very little. its hardly worth selling stuff on there unless you get it for free, or its high in demand. eBay changed many policies around 07-08 to generate the most revenue possible. Pre 2007 it was a great market place. 1099's for paypal and sales taxing eBay purchases is coming down the pike.

    off my soapbox now...
  • I think that the reason you are seeing all this crap on ebay is that twice a month ebay offers their better sellers unlimited free listings.
