On the road again
Yesterday morning I fired up my 1950 pacemaker sedan and headed off to the FL DMV. The paperwork went without a hitch.
I purchased this car from my father in October and had my brother in law deliver it to me in Florida from NY. I am the third owner of the car, my grandfather bought it new in Rochester NY, and father assumed ownership after my grandfather passed. The car is basically all original (was repainted in 1988), and has never seen winter roads (or salt). It has been stored since 1999, when my father put it away for winter...
We did enough to make it run again last September, and that was how it arrived it FL, barely running. I adjusted valves, replaced plugs & wires, did an oil change, rebuilt front brakes & master cylinder and took care of a few other items. The car is running great, a smooth low idle.
So back to the subject line, after 5 years of storage, the Hudson is licensed and ready to roll...
This car was always one of many Hudsons, and never the favorite, so I am excited to give it the attention it deserves. It is my only Hudson for the near future.
Just a funny side note; After the 25 mile round trip to the DMV, I took my 7 year old daughter to a doctors appointment in the Hudson. It was really her first time riding in the car. As soon as we got on open road, she exclaimed "No wonder you guys used to fight over sitting next to the window, you can actually see out of these old ones!".
Needless to say, I was smiling from ear to ear all day long.
Merry Christmas!
