Got any old steering wheels?

I'd like to find some good, useable cores for steering wheels. 2-4 to begin with. Looking for '50-'53, 3-spoke design like what was found in Wasps, Hornets, Commodores. Only need cores as I am looking into re-casting these.

Russell, What price range are you looking at, for a recast with finger grips , ect., as original?
I had a 41 Cadillac wheel recast in IVORY, by the fellow in Arizona about 8 years ago and it cost over $800 then..Dont think you would find many that would pay that kind of money for a 50-53 wheel, as there are still quite a few nice wheels available. Just my thoughts...RD0 -
I agree somewhat on the market analysis. There are still quite a few good wheels out there. In my own personal case, I was thinking of stepping outside of the box a little and making a few that were ivory-colored, like you found in a few '50-models, which I think are quite handsome. I have been told that because of the lack of pigment in the original ivory-colored wheels, the UV has not been as kind to them as the darker wheels over the decades.
As the convertible is going to have a RED interior, it would only make sense to have a red wheel, or maybe the ivory-colored one (which I can't stop thinking about). I figured if I am going to go to the trouble of making one, might as well make half-a-dozen if possible and sell 3 or 4 of them. can't see making over a dozen, to tell the truth. Mostly, it would be for those, like me, who wanted to be original, but slightly unique. No reason at all to cast green or maroon wheels, as far as I can see.
And for price, you are correct, $800-$1200 is the going rate. The silicone rubber is actually quite expensive in and of itself.0 -

Good!! Bring it, but don't wear it around your neck . . . it's not as attractive as it sounds.0
