I am missing the part that holds the rear of the hood to the cowl. I do not know what it looks like, I never had it. Can anyone describe it or better yet take a pictues of it. It must slip into the divider bar and attatch somehow to the loop on the cowl.

Thank you

    Here it is

  • Is that a 36 because it looks different than my cowl. What i have on the cowl is a loop that is bolted and the hood hing sits on it but right now I have nothing that holds it in place at the back.

Center hood moulding slides on front clip and rear just rests on the loop you are refering to. You can actually slide entire hood to rear and lift off the car. This is what front looks like.

This is rear on 1936, red was car probably 37, but works the same.

  • Wow, I will jump on this bandwagon as mine is missing off my 35 also. Thanks, a picture worth a thousand words. Any one gotta an extra let me know to. Cheers

If possible, find out if the '37 matches the '36 bracket (and the '35 as well). Might be the same part number -- check your parts book.

Reason: there are a LOT more '37 parts out there than '36 or '35 parts. If it matches (or is close, and can be modified) Robbie Williams might be able to help you. He's parted out a whole bunch of '37's over the years. His contact info is in the National roster.
  • I was gonna go out and take a picture of my '36, but mine is exactly like dave s'. Cept mine aint quite so pretty. Nice paint, Dave...slim
  • So I am actually not missing anything, I have the front clip and it the rear of the center moulding just sits on the loop then I am good to go.

Thank you for the info and great pics

Actually there is a piece that slides into the hood hinge and drops through the bracked on your cowling with a nut that holds the hood hinge tight onto the cowl. I even have an extra one that I just went out and sprayed with penetrating oil so I can take it apart and photograph it for you. I don't want to take the one off of my car to photograph because it is a big hassle to get it back on. I will post picture in an hour or so to show you how it works.

By the way, are you and HET club member?? I am the new keeper of the register for '36 Terraplanes and I need to know!

  • Thank you for the pictures. I have a piece that looks like that but it must be for the front of the hood, it does not fit in the loop on the cowl. But now I now it is basically the same as the front and I can make that.

I am not a member yet, but plan to.
If you need any info for the register please let me know.
