Hood locking cable replacement - '53 Hornet

I broke the cable for the hood locking mechanism on my '53 Hornet sedan and need to replace it.
After removal, I see that the cable is integral with the chrome under-dash handle. So it appears that I need to replace both cable and handle simultaneously. Is that correct?
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

This Dorman part (Universal Cable 55200) will work I think.

Jason at Twin H ranch sells a replacement cable. I bought one from him a couple of months ago.

    Thanks for the info.
I'll be firing off an e-mail to Twin H to see if they have what I need.
In the meantime, I'll just attach a short length of flexible cable to the locking mechanism and pull that from the front whenever I need to release the hood.

I was just going to suggest that. Actually, Jason's grandpa Bill used to advise to add a 'front-accessible' hood release, to go along with the original inside cable, and I've appreciated that advice countless times since. I used a piece of new brake line that attaches to the pivoting release bracket in the center, and points toward the drivers side headlight. I used an eyebolt to mount the outer end, formed a handle loop in the line, and covered it with a small rubber hose so it doesn't rattle. It's all tucked up in my '49 grill, and is invisible to anyone that doesn't know it's there. Very handy to have.

Here's a shot of four different types I've run across thus far. I plan on using the one with the ivory handle in the convertible. The one that Ken mentioned, with "HOOD" spelled on it is shown, as well. Anyone know which ones originally went on which models?

The handle on the far left looks the same as the one that came out of my '53 Hornet sedan.
Everything else on my car is stock, so that's the style I'm looking for.

The Dorman unit or any auto supple store replacement cable will work. Can be easily adapted to the stock release meachnism. I have one on my '54 and it works like a charm.

Russell - The one on the far left is the stock cable & handle
However, in a pinch you could use any of those shown
