Is there an ideal way to store cams & cranks when out of an engine ? ie vertical vs horizontal?

Maybe a dumb question but, I have am 8 cyl. cam thats been spanning some V-blocks for awhile and it got me thinking that may be bad.

Thanks,
Matt

Chuck's correct. Stand them on end.
