37 grill fitment issue
Driving me nuts! I didn't take this apart but got it as a basket case.
I am pre-fitting the parts before taking back apart and doing the body and paint work. Can anyone enlighten me on the lower gap fitment of the grill and fenders? I have everything pushed to the max on adjustment--

On my 1936, that is different, but same style, we installed grill first and everything bolted up without much trouble.

You are aware that there is a big, thick rubber welting that fits between the radiator shell the fenders, right? Much thicker than the one between your fenders and the body.0

Jon, the rubber welting I have has about a 3/8" "bulb". The openings at the bottom sides of the grill is at least 1".0

Thats exactly why I dont wash my car . Water makes em shrink

Okay, I'm flying blind here, but...
Do you have the threaded rod in place that runs horizontally behind the radiator shell, and into holes in both fenders, thus them apart at an adjustable distance?0 -

The PU has a frame from a 37 Terraplane coupe and parts mixed from both but I understand they should be the same.0 -
I had a similar problem when I put the grille back on my '34 after its repaint (it fitted OK before I took it off !) and ended up by resorting to a double strip of welt around the bottom of the grille - the special rubber grille welt with a strip of normal fender welt underneath. It looks OK, though.0

Does anyone have a good shot of that area on a finished 37 Terraplane? I have a lot of pictures but none really show the lower grill to fender area very well.
(It looks like the grill edge takes a "dive" in that lower area and it looks stock, how do the fenders follow that on a finished car?)
Old Fogey, we may have to resort to that but I'm going to try and exhaust all other options first.0
