Jet Brake Cylinders

I got my 53 Super Jet out from hibernation in the barn and it started fine and runs good. Last summer I cleaned up the brake cylinders the best I could, but now I notice that two of them are leaking. I understand that rebuilt or new brake cylinders for Jets are impossible to find, so I guess I will need to have them sleaved. Can anyone give me the name of anyone, preferably in the midwest, who can help me? thanks very much

    You can get new cylinders, but the pistons are sticking point - the originals are flat surfaced on the outer ends, whereas the replacement ones are hollow conical. No problem using the old pistons in the new cylinders though, and it is sometimes cheaper to fit new cylinders than get the old ones sleeved. I had min sleeved with stainless around 15 years ago with no problems since. Front cylinders are 1-18" and rears are 15/16". Good luck

    I saw a discussion of resleeving wheel cylinders over at the AACA Forum. They were debating how good White Post Restorations was (they're near me, in northern Virginia) but one man suggested "Brake & Equipment Warehouse in Minneapolis, 1-800-233-4053. They definitely do the work on-site. Resleeve cylinders: $40 each..." according to his post. Now, this was back in 2005 so the price may have gone up.

    Dorman still lists Hudson Jet front wheel cylinders in their catalog. Right 15427 and Left 15428. This is Raybestos WC14205 (Right) and WC14206 (left). The rears are NAPA 36029, Raybestos WC36029 and Wagner WC38926.
