OK..It's the last day of the month and my WTN finally arrived. There really seems to be no logic to the way the WTNs get Delivered..

I live in Washington State and pay regular Postage since I decided that paying for
1st Class for a couple of years Only got me a week earlier delivery.

It appears that members in Europe and Down Under also got their copys before I did..

Wonder if there is ANYONE LEFT as of today who still hasen't got their Copy.

I say we make an Electronic Version available and leave it up to Members to decide which version they prefer and are willing to pay for.

REGARDS,

TOM

I now have First Class and get mine about 7 days after the publishing date (generally, the 15th of the month of publication). I used to get it regular mail and it would arrive usually about one week into the month following the date of publication. That's Virginia, of course. I can't speak for Washington, of course. Could be a local delivery thing...

I think the only problem with electronic delivery -- assuming it is in PDF format -- is the size of the file created from a digitization of the WTN. It would jamb your mailbox with gazillions of kilobytes and, so to speak, constipate the system. Then, an electronic equivalent of Ex-Lax might be required...

Seems like we're rapidly getting to a point where if you're not willing to pay extra (for what used to be basic service), you won't get any service at all.

Everything within a state used to deliver in a day or two- now, to get guaranteed 2 day delivery, you have to pay extra.

Another favorite of mine- To file incorporation papers for a corporation, its $175. For an extra 20 bucks, you get "over the counter" service. Rumor is that all the filings that wouldn't cough up the extra 20 are still in that pile, "right over there".

But it gets worse- "over the counter" used to mean while you waited- now, its anything within 4 hours. So now, you have to take a self addressed envelope and ask them to send it to you, or wait around for up to half a day.

Its getting so the guvment is so intent on just taking my money and giving it to someone else, that they don't have time to perform any services that enable me to make some money to give them.

I live as you may guess in NC and I paid for first class mail. I haven't got mine yet either. I must admit that I'm a little peeved that our overseas members have their copy and I haven't got mine yet.

Guys, I'm sure it has to do with your Regional PO. I live 175 miles due south of Heart Of Texas, and my issue comes on the 17th, every single time an issue is released, without fail. I pay the 1st class mail. Virginia was different when I lived there, it took much longer, typically and not always on the same day.

FROM THE VARIETY OF RESPONSES I THINK IT'S SAFE TO CONCLUDE THAT:

There is no rhyme or reason to the way the USPS delivers our mail...It's a crap shoot as to when you are going to get delivery and paying additional postage for 1st Class may ay may NOT insure faster delivery.

It's only going to get worse (USPS CLOSING DOWN LOCATIONS AND LAYING OFF WORKERS).....

I submit that its TIME the HET gets PRO ACTIVE and makes an electronic version of the WTN available.

I'm not going to explore the options I'll let the Computer GURU's hash that out, but it easy enuf to accomplish.

A reduced membership Fee might be accomplished what with a reduction in mail
being sent thru and mangled by the USPS..Hell I'd pay current rates if I could get the WTN on a specific day..

Lets get a petition going and see if the HET officers are ready to make a change before it's too late and all we have are MEMORIES!!!!
  • I would love an electronic version. Many none email methods for delivery exist. I have discussed this a few times with HET. And many valid reasons about the mailing of the magazine have to be considered. The cost of mailing is kept down by the amount sent. So if say half opt for electronic it does affect the print copy. But these are all things that could be worked out. My offer still stands to help produce the electronic version. So if it ever gets hashed out let me know.

I'm pretty much like Russell - my WTN arrives (first class) within at least 2 days, but usually the next day, after somebody posts on the forum they got their's. And, like Rusell, it's pretty much the same day each issue. So as the man says with the postal system in this country it's a crap shoot as to how long it's going to take. There is no incentive in the postal system to get mail to it's destination in a timely manner - indeed, the way it seems to be done gives the postal system that age old rant - "We need more money to operate efficiently!!"

It's the same way to many govm't agencies seem to operate - "Give us more money and we'll operate more efficiently". But it doesn't work that way. The best thing to happen would probably be for the postal system, as we know it today to go out of business and private enterprise take over - with appropriate safeguards to make sure the mail was handled correctly.

That's my soap box for today.

  • Talk to Charlotte Sargent she can help you
  • Hi
I would love an electronic version . for us foreigners which does mean not always the language English, especially me, lol, we could use the translator online and understand all the articles. But I would like to also keep the paper version, I am prepared to pay a suplement for this

You can eliminate Jon's PDF file in email concern, post the file on the web, send out an announcement with a specific link we go to and download the doc. Lots faster and much more dependable. But then again, I have no idea of what a speak lol

And I lime the new forum idea, it is the implementation I hate. Thusly, I wound up posting my comment as a follow_up rather than a new post Sorry about that
  • Electronic or paper, the WTN still takes 2 months to get here and about a minute and a half to read
