Carb heat shield
Hi all,
Wondering if their was ever a carb heat shield made for the non stepdown cars?
This crappy gas sure seems to get hot in the fuel bowl easy and I am wondering if a shield would help. Due to the design, twin H type wont work.
Or do I need to get bent metals help in making one from stainless!!
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff , I have made them from alluminum siding. Best part is , you can cut it nicely with a good pair of scissors. It shines up nice with the right grit sand paper and holds up well.

My '47 C8 has what appears to be an original heat shield, but it's
not very big, so don't know how effective. When my former '51 C8 was troubled with gas boiling in the carb, the thing that eliminated the problem totally was putting a modern type core in the radiator. This brought the underhood temp down significantly. The modern core "fins" have little louvers in them, and it's said the heat transfer is about 50% better. Sure solved my heating problem.0 -
What is the symptom of gas boiling in the carb? Is that what makes it hard to restart after a 10 mile or so run on a 80 degree day. When I shut down, and the car sits for 20 minutes, I need to hold the pedal to the floor to restart. No big thing, but still a nuisance. Park, what did that recore set you back, and was it an original radiator?0

If your going for a recore , check into a staggered tube core,
like they use in a tractor.20 percent higher cost , 30 percent better cooling.
