Vendor report

I think it's good when you get a vendor that does what they say they are going to do and no surprises afterward.

Joe Stinnett of Gas Tank Renew of Orlando did a jam up job on the gas tank I sent him.

Custom Metal Finishing In Hagerstown IN, (family run-work done "in-house") did a great job on re-plating some pieces I sent them after they had been re-plated by another company in Fla and returned unacceptable.

Now for the "other",
Very dissapointed with the 37 guage restoration done by Bob's Speedometer Service. Had to send the panel back once and it still is not acceptable for the 1800.00 spent to restore it. They corrected some issues on my "need correction sheet" but on the second try the guage faces are still not square in the windows and the problem is not in the adjustment of the windows. A lot of money spent for me to have to take them apart and work on them before I can install.

Thanks for passing these along. I wish there was a sort of ''repository'' where everyone could post their experiences with suppliers. For the "not so good" suppliers, they don't have to say "BAD--AVOID"- - they would simply say, ''contact me for more information'' and then point out the problems they had. (This avoids all sorts of unpleasantness, such as when the owner of the bad shop -- or one of his friends -- takes offense and pesters you or raises a stink.)

I'm awfully sorry about your speedo. I sent my '37 speedo to a shop in South Carolina that was recommended by a friend who co-owns a restoration shop, and they re-did the head. Cost me a hundred or so, but it works well now. By the way, did you know that there is a company that supplies new dashboard glass for '37's with all the silkscreened artwork on it?

Rick, Yes, that is the one.
Jon, I had seen those on e-bay. I will go that route the next time for the numbers and send the guages out without the rest of the panel and put back together myself.

For that kind of money, they should be PERFECT!

Nevada, that is exactly what I told them.
I got the feel that they outsourced the job.
