Hudson 8 fuel pump
Hi all, I have a 50 Commodore 8 and I am debating rebuilding my dual action fuel pump, or using a new 6 volt electric pump, or both? My question is when i took my pump off to inspect since it was leaking, I see that the pump arm is WELL WORN on the end of it and its not square anymore. Seems to be worn at an angle. Is this normal? Will it still pump alright if rebuilt? Or should I find another pump to rebuild? My idea is to run the mechanical pump (for the wipers and fuel), but to put an inline 6 volt electric pump in as backup to prime it, and to compensate for vaporlock with todays trashy gas....thoughts? Thanks!

The arm is replaceable .I think I still have some NOS pumps . They would be no good to run as is due to modern gas But if rebuilt would be great. Or you could take parts out to fix your worn arm

Ok great. where would i find an arm? I have a line on new rebuild kits for use with modern gas, so I guess another question is would u sell me an N.O.S. one? thanks again, Matt0

It looks like I am out of NOS pumps right now. They are around though just put a diaphram kit in them and go. I will keep looking for parts- I think I have some pump parts someplace

Thats fine, all i need is a parts one with a decent arm. Thanks for keeping looking...0

Be aware that the stepdown 8 pumps are the same as the stepdown 6 pumps and different than the earlier 6 and 8 pumps.
The pump hole in the stepdown (widepan) 8 was moved higher in the block and the mounting face flipped top to bottom.0 -
