No spark and next to no compression how will i fix the spark problem and check/unfree the valves without removing the head or manifold

First check to see if the distributor is turning. You could have a bad timing chain or gear causing both problems.

Pour about a cupful of penetrating oil, or diesel down the carby throat whilst cranking the motor over. Then remove the plugs and ascertain whether the valves are going up and down. If not, tap them down one at a time until they do move. Once you have compression, then you could try towing the car, or else use the starter and try ether spray down the carby. Spark - it could be dirty points, check these first. God luck,

  • Yes in a car that has sat dirty points is the most common cause of no "Fire". The compression issue may be as simple as dry cylinder walls . And as Geoff stated some sort of thin penatrant type oil in the system should be helpfull. Be carfull as too much will foul the plugs and be counter productive. However you could remove the plugs and place a little oil in each cylinder. Use compressed air to blow any dirt from around them first . Then spin the engine with starter motor to didtribute evenly.
