And the decision has been made

A while back I was pondering if I should sell my 1939 112 on as all it was doing was sitting on my drive looking sad & sorry. It's still sitting there looking sad & sorry but I have made my mind up.
I have known this car nearly 30 years now and I came across her on eBay 6 years ago just after having been laid off. I paid over the odds for her I know but .... in the 6 years I've had her I've driven her a little and looked at her a lot wishing I had access to the resources (i.e. friends & tools) I used to have some 30 odd years ago but I don't.
I get people knocking the door asking if she is for sale and I hum and ah a little over that as , to be honest, most of the people who knock I doubt I want to sell her to.
I go through periods of "I really should sell her , I'll never get her back on the road" ; I guess we all do.
My epiphany came today really as I had someone knock the door asking if the drive needed repairing ; well just looking at it will tell you it does. What he really wanted to know is if I wanted him to do the work.
No was the answer to that and then the conversation turned to the Hudson and was it for sale. My immediate answer was No and then he tried to do me a deal that he'd do the drive and take her in part exchange for it.
He was very quickly made aware of the fact that the car was worth much more to me than the cost of repairing a drive ...
Anyway the crux of all this rambling is that I realised that we have the house which always needs work doing on it, things keep breaking etc.
What I have is my car and the hope that one day real soon I'll be able to drive her again.
So she stays!
Long ramble to get there so apologies (or congratulations) to anyone who made it to the end!

Paul,
You made the right decision. Once the car is gone.. so goes the dream. A man without a dream is a man without a future.
In the early sixties, My father sold my first car while I was away in the USAF. I did not have any input in this transaction. It took several years to get the car back. I didn't have the resources at the time to do any restoration, but kept the car. In the mean time, I changed careers, Got divorced, remarried, lost my job, had to start my own business, many years went by until i was able to get her back together.More than 30 years went by. In the late 1990's I was able to get her into presentable condition. Not only did my son get his drivers license in her like I did in 1956.. now my Grandson has now driven her and maybe he will use her to get his license in a couple years. None of this would have happened if I didn't stick to it.
One thing I have learned from life is that "nothing is forever'.Hang on to your dream.0 -
Sometimes all we got are dreams - it's what keeps us going, and slightly insane.
