i have a 308 &a4spd. hydramatic , what i need is a barrel type bendix , as mine won't engage .is there one that i can get at local auto parts store that will work ? one more dumb question , was the 1951 hudson pos. or neg ground ? how can you tell ? thanks for any help

    The 51 Hudson as were all stepdowns , POSITIVE ground. This is important. The bendix you need for your starter is available from NAPA. Part # BK 656-1085.

    Barring any busted parts,take it apart and clean it good. I had the same issue and a good cleaning and oiling fixed it up .

    anybody know of anywhere in texas that would have the bendix the only napa i found that had one is in north or south Carolina
