Oil cup on double throw shifts
On my recently purchased '53 Super Wasp I noticed an oil cup with springed door (as on the distributor and generator) just above the steering shaft and between the double throw levers in the engine compartment. The Owner Manual and the Hudson shop manuals don't address this oil port. I'm guessing this accepts regular engine oil, but just wanted to make sure it isn't suppose to be 80-90 weight oil like in the steering gear itself. Thanks!

Back in those days cars were serviced every 1,000 miles and that was a place that 2 or 3 drops of oil was placed. We use to use 30 weight. Walt.0
