Has anyone purchased a 1/18 scale cast model of the 52 & 53 Hudson Hornet from Sportcraft Miniatures? I would like to hear from anyone about the company's reputation.
Peace,

Before you buy anything brand new direct from the manufacturer, look at the link below for those 1/18 scale models on e-bay. There are some good deals on brand new models out there. http://toys.search.ebay.com/hudson_Models-Kits_W0QQsacatZ1188

I have, so far, bought two of the 1:18 scale Hudsons off ebay. These are both from Highway 61 diecast models. However, their price is higher than you can do on ebay - I bought one of my Hornets, a 52, for $35; the other, a 53, for $40. I'd like to have a couple more, but I really don't have the room for all of them.
Overall I would rate these models to be considerably above Franklin Mint's 1:24 and the prices are a fraction of Franklin and Danbury. I have the Marshall Teague #6 from Franklin Mint in 1:24 - the difference between 1:24 and 1:18 is startling to say the least.

I bought one to have a hudson coupe... the green with white top...
Then Hudsondad followed suit and bought each color variety and variation...
I think he still wants a Frank Mundy one yet.... :cool:0 -
Between the 4 nascar Hudsons and the different color combos, they're closing in on almost a dozen different now. The 1/18 highway 61 are very nice and prices we've seen range from about $25 to $55. Also bought one that was made to look like a junkyard car that was dented and rusted (also started as highway 61) which the guy did a great job on. It's neat, but I paid more for that one then the rest. Ebay is a good source, especially if the seller combines shipping. They are available a large flea markets and auto shows.0

Right on the flea markets, at least. I bought that little 1:43 model - actually bought two of them - that came out with the flame job, Rydell High, Grease, on the box etc., at a flea market. That's the 1951 "Chrysler" Hornet (love it), by the way. These came "knocked down" - I bought one to assemble, one to leave in the box. Figure someday it might be worth BIG bucks since "Chrysler" didn't make a "Hornet". LOL Now we got auto makers trying to change history. Maybe because Hudson cars were so much better than what's out today???

Hey Alex, Don't you just love how Chrysler{Opps..Thats DAIMLERChrysler] gives the company history. Waxing gloriously about the feats of the fabulous Hudson Hornet. Hell's bells!! Chrysler did everything they could to be rid of that car at the track. It wasn't until they came out with a hemi in a big Chrysler that they could beat them. Then they crowed about it!!! Yeah a great victory over a reworked inline 6 . Get real .Mopar, some of actually know the story and Chrysler wasn't there. Try again PR spin doctors.0
