'30s disappearing vent windows

The "disappearing vent windows" of '30s Hudson products..... I've told people about this but they don't seem to grasp the concept - roll handle one way and the vent only opens -- roll other way and the window goes down and THEN the vent window assembly disappears into the door.
Is there a video on YouTube of this? Could one of you make one to promote our cars to the hobby world that searches YouTube? And then I could link folks to it so they would understand this unique Hudson (and Terraplane) feature.
I don't think any other manufacturer had similar. Or did they?
Thanks!

I believe if you look in the Master Parts Catalog for body parts (they printed a '30 - '39 edition and a smaller '36 to '39 as I recall) you'll see illustrations of it which you could scan & display or send.
If you are really "juiced up" on the subject just take a video camera to someone who has a Hudson or Terraplane with that feature & shoot it.

If my own vents were functional I'd video them. Am currently rebuilding the rollers, chroming the pot metal, polishing the glass frames and replacing the glass.0

I just bought a 36 but the windows don't roll down...yet. I was messing with the handles and figured out by the way they tried to move that that's what they're supposed to do. I thought that was really cool and can't wait to make 'em work!0

you might want to pull the door panel so that you can clean & lubricate the mechanisms; if you try too hard to roll it down you might break the handle which would be hard to replace!0

1930-1939 Master parts catalog mentioned by oldhudsons is available in the online library at
http://hetclub.org/burr/lithomepage.htm - would be in the body parts catalog, as I recall. Believe it is in Section EE, Doors.

Some Chrysler products also had that feature0

Be carful when forcing the mechanism, the harware inside the door is pot metal , so if you force too hard you may crack or damage the parts. In the long run ,take off the door panel clean and lubricate the parts.

I assisted the window and only forced enough to see where it was supposed to go. I removed one of the rear door panels and got that one to roll down. Now I need some new rubber to go around the windows!0

For rubbers try "Vic's Auto Window Channelling" (562) 947-5864, HETthez@verizon.net (drop the HET).

Vic's is about to go online, according to autochanneling.com
What about http://www.metrommp.com/ ? Are they any good?0 -
Vic Zamora is a Hudson guy - it's always good to support fellow Hudsonites who are usually both knowledgeable & helpful about our Hudsons. Vic posts on this forum .0

I do not want to bad mouth any vendor who has parts that work for our cars (i.e. autochanneling) however, Vic is a good friend (only through the Hudson group) and you are not going to find a better guy in the world to deal with. Get ahold and Vic and work with him--you will be glad you did. He has done a few cars for me and helped me through the whole process.0

The rubber seals around the vent windows themselves, are available for both the closed and open cars. I think K-Gap has them, but I'm fairly sure Metro has them as well. Make sure that the window cradle is not binding on something as it slides down; that could be causing your problem.0
