And the rear side windows have this crank above it that slide the window back to allow more circulation. And the assist handles are there but they're so brittle they'd probably hinder someone's entry and exit!

Little bitty ashtrays...I guess for the ladies who smoked Virginia slims? :) And a footrest!
  • Luggage deck is still mostly intact and hey, that's why it's so bright in the front seat! lol
  • By far my favorite part. I know Hudson was innovative but a car that ran on water instead of gas?!?

All four original wheels...maybe a can of fix-a-flat would do the trick?

Boy-o-boy this car keeps getting more awesome by the minute!

And on a side note, I'm slowing getting the inside cleaned out. Every time I get in and out I carry some dirt with me on my clothes! haha

Now if you can just market, the water-based "gas" tank . . . you'd be a zillionaire!

    Jeremiah-

You have to remember that these cars, particularly the "Hudsons" (as opposed to the Terraplanes), were very well-appointed cars for the time. It wasn't the epitome of luxury, but they were the "country-club" set type of automobiles.

One of the beautiful aspects of the orphan marques, is that typically (and certainly applies to Hudsons), is they had to offer more, to be marketable (which seems backwards). Your car was considerably more expensive than the sister-Terraplanes due to the many nice touches, some of which you are discovering. That's really a fine automobile, like all the Hudsons.

Jeremiah, thanks for posting us so much pictures and letting us discover with you the hidden beauty of this automobile. Looks like a diamond in the rough to me. And I like your sense of humor. We need guys like you. You will love it here! Michel
P.S. Others know but, you will notice that I don't have an english corrector on my computer so, sometimes I may have the wrong words or the wrong spelling, I was born and raised in french in the french province of Québec, Canada. But, coming here and reading everything I could, helped me a lot to improve my english. So, we learn a lot more than mecanic here. It's simply fantastic!

Jeremiah, it would be advantageous for you to converse first-hand with someone who has a car of your vintage, and can show you the finer points of delving into these vehicles. You say you're in Texas...mind if I ask what big city you're near? We have '36-37 owners in Roanoke, Smthville, Greenville, New Waverly, Houston, Celina and El Paso (this is from our 4-year-old national roster). (1937 is a completely different body from 1936 but there are many similarities.) Most H-E-T members are happy to help fellow Hudson owners, though once in awhile you hit a clinker, so....no guarantees. If you're near any of these towns I could PM you the name and address of the Hudson owner there.

In addition there are knowledgeable Hudsonites in Texas who could offer advice firsthand and might live nearby -- possibly some of them are already following this discussion.
  • I'm in Houston. I plan on meeting up with the South Texas chapter next weekend to meet some HETers in person. Russell Chilton was kind enough to contact me and tell me about it. It would be great if I could find someone local with the same year as I have. Any contacts you'd like to send would be greatly appreciated.

Have PM'ed you a name and address of local '36 owner. PM's appear as red notations on your INBOX at top of page.
  • Yeah, but it didn't show up?
  • Very nice! Brownie, are there any pics of your 36?
