How about a Steering Wheel question?

OK, here’s the deal…my car came with the wheel pictured. The previous owner liked to weld and he said the stock wheel was shot, but the center chrome parts were good so he combined a swap meet wheel with the Hudson wheel. A good Idea actually and he did a nice job. But my initial feelings of liking it have faded and now I just think it looks out of place. Now I don’t need a perfect one, just restorable. I understand as long as chunks are not missing, cracks can be fixed quite easily and the wheel of course can be repainted. Also I don’t need the center chrome ring/Horn bits, as mine are OK.
So, hypothetically what might a steering wheel for a '53 Hornet cost me?
I may buy one if its affordable, bearing in mind recovery time from Christmas bills and that there are things I need for the Hudson that will get it back on the road. This is something that works as is, I’ve just don’t care for the look.
Any opinions/comments?

Do you have power steering in that car? If not, I'll bet it's hard to steer. I'd definately switch it back to the stock wheel, one for the better torque factor, but also for the magic of having the big steering wheel. Unfortunately, don't have one to sell you, but could certainly give you some leads if you e-mail me. If you come up empty on the forum, let me know.
