Nice looking car. I like the 1 backup light on the driver's side. Twin-H not original?

it would appear the seats have been reupholstered in naughyde however door panels are either original or someone did a helluva good job with the crosshatch stitching when re-doing them.
In addition to Twin-H it also has a Dual Range Hydro; perhaps the engine & trans. been changed out as neither avail. in '51.
Is that dark blue an original color? I've seen them in a very attractive pale blue but don't recall a dark blue in '51.

    Pete-

I don't believe that is a original color, either. Pretty car, never seen this one, before. There's a few odd things about this one, but overall, quite nice. I think that side mirror is about as useless as poopy-flavored lollipops, as the windshield post is right in the way. What's that off of, a Dodge?

Can't pick too much, overall a real stunner.

Any guesses on what she goes for?

Seems to me this one on E-Bay ought to go for $50k plus if it's as good as it looks in the photos.

From my paint chip sheet it looks like could be Admiral Blue, a '50-'51 factory color. There was also Pacific blue, but it looks a little darker than this car. Too bad it doesn't have the blue dash ... rare and beautiful. White top is interesting ... I bought a '51 convertible in early '56 and it had a white top that appeared to be original, even though tan, black and burgundy were the only colors listed as available for '51. I figure the original buyer said "I love the car, and will buy it if you put a white top on it."

Would not surprise me, in the least.

a long time ago in a galaxy far away I bought an exc. original '50 C8 conv. from the original owner - it was Corinthian or Coronation Cream (?) which I believe was a conv. only color, anyway, they wanted a black conv. so dealer said he'd paint it black if they'd take it so black when I got it & last time I saw it, about 12 yrs. ago, it still had orig. paint & leather int.

Cornish cream was the convertible-only cream for 1950-'51. Corinthian Cream was available across the line-up of models. I've been fortunate to own one of each (the Cornish Cream one from '56-'57)

Ah folks how soon you forget. This is the blue convertible from Marvin Snyder's auction that was held on June 23rd in Ames, Iowa. This blue one had the issue where the bodyman plastered over the rear fender seams - notice they are smooth. I think the sale prices were posted on the forum. This is the lower priced. Hmm less than two months to flip it. Not bad. Lots of small issues with this one. The red one was nicer (and when for a higher price)

From Poohah91's comments: Maroon '51 convertible with a '56 twin h engine sold for $40k to an oline bidder in NY. Same NY bidder bought the blue '51 convertible with a '53 engine I think for $36k.

    Oh, yeah. I remember now.
  • There were a couple of dark blue colors in '51. Admiral Blue was a 1/2 year offering. The car in question has many "glitches"...a very glaring one being that if the car actually came with blue leather, it would have had the blue leather graining on the dash, valences, etc.

    Thanks Aaron!
  • My dad was a hudson mechanic and we had a 51 hornet with twin-h and a dual range hydro, he bought it used in late 54 or early 55. I do not know if he put the hydro and twin-h on the car or if the car was changed by the previous owner, but I think the twin-h was installed by the dealer when originally sold, have no idea about the transmission. He also had mallory mag-spark distributor and an electric fuel pump, back in 55.
