San Mateo National

I was finally able to book my reservation today for the San Mateo national. The rate of $105.00 was only good through Friday meaning I will have to check out Saturday morning. I was transfered multiple times before I got someone who would actually make the reservation. I was told the car fee of $22.00 was waived for this event. Craig was surprised people were booking already - I guess he doesn't know our people very well!

See you there!

  • There was a problem with rates about a week ago when we initially made our reservation. Called the Marriott today and now have a reservation starting on Wednesday and checking out on Sunday for $105 rate. Hope this helps. Tom
  • The hotel will now take your reservations for $105.00 per night. You were trying to
book to early, the hotels computer does not book that far out. The will be no charges
for parking as we have a large area set aside for parking, and swap meet. Any questions
contact me, Ed Drexler, directly and I will do may best to solve any problems. All this
misinformation floating around out there is getting out of hand.

use Marriott's 866-263-1461 # rather than the hotel's number; got mine quickly & efficiently

For anyone who's tried to get the $105 rate on the 21st, they've opened up some more rooms for that rate for early arrivers.

    Rick,

On my email confirmation from the Marriott it notes HUDSON ESSEX, that is probably the group code.

I just booked the rooms for July 22nd to the 28th. The cost is $105 per night. The clerk also stated that there is a fee for parking of $25, although she sounded a bit un informed. What are the accommodations for trailered vehicles. Ed where do we leave the trailers and tow vehicles? Will there be a fee?

Clerk is wrong, and no fees for parking. This is VERY early and some of the staff does not have a clue yet.

Ray, might be early for them - I booked Gettysburg in early August last year and in fact have booked most all of my nationals in early August thru-out the years.

Do to the location at SF airport( @ 7 miles) and the first HET National in Cal since Sacramento, I feel that there will be a lot of folks attending. The Sacramento meet needed a few overflow hotels, if I remember, and most HET National meets are in towns that are not direct flights from hub cities. Plane tickets are expensive, and connecting flights a necessity. SF is a non stop from many places, unlike Gettysburg or Spokane. I'm betting this 2013 meet is going to be only surpassed by Detroit in 09 for attendance. In Detroit the hotel in Pontiac was a long distance from the airport, so, a rental car was needed for folks who could not bring their Hudsons. I'm surprised that the sponsors were able to get a hotel so close to a first line size city, and have the parking as well. Advise: get your reservations in.

The current email for Ed Drexler is: hudsonhornet@gmail.com. Alternative contact for the 2013 National is Richard Griffith at: rag356S@yahoo.com. Ed has been out of town, but these were working addresses as of last week. We are doing everything to insure that the 2013 National Meet is one to remember. As the old saying goes, "If you don't have a good time, it will be your own fault..." See you, Bob Bennett, NorCal Chapter

YIKES....talk about jumping the gun and overreaction.

A quick internet search listed no less than 17 hotels in and near the San Francisco Airport..

Also San Mateo is about 7 miles from the Airport and it also offers a number of reasonable
    Hotels..
