This engine comes from the estate of Dick Goerges, long-time HET member. We are posting this on behalf of his Widow. Done by the Al Leist Machine Shop in San Mateo, California, a popular shop for custom engines, it has been in dry storage since 2001. The block has been relieved, bored .060 over, decked, and comes with a Clifford Head. It turns over freely. Please examine the photos. Price includes delivery to the 2012 All-California Meet, or to the 2013 HET National in San Mateo. Shipping $500 otherwise. If not sold this week, the engine will be placed on eBay. Please call 408-472-5403 for further information. Thanks for looking...Bob

tidy little sum to ask esp. doesn't seem to come with "7X" exhaust manifold, carbs, & who knows what cam and serial # proves it wasn't originally a 7X block.
  • Certainly not a bad price considering what you get. He does not claim to be a true 7X block. Look at top of add (7X clone).

I agree with Randy, this is what you would pay to have your standard 308 rebuilt (labor and parts).

This is a private sale, so there is no "core" charge, and shipping is just one-way. We had to remove the Clifford head to inspect the block, so we will include a new 308 headgasket. There was a matched Twin-H manifold and custom headers that were supposed to go with the engine, (both Ceramcoated with a chrome finish) but the Twin-H was never found. We will have the headers at San Simeon. These were part of a small run of headers custom designed by Bruce Silva, and made of heavy-wall steel, which sold for $1,000 when new, far superior to other headers and priced accordingly. If someone wants to make us an offer on the block and headers together, please call Ed Drexler at 415-672-2084, BEFORE Thursday 9/13....Thanks.
