I wish they would stop with the Rat Rod stuff already. This is a real rare beast and to rod this thing would be a crime!0

Even I would restore this one! Ooops, did I just say that! lol In the words of Val Kilmer (Tombstone) "my hypocrisy knows no bounds!"

I know of several Hudson convertibles that were far, far worse than this one that were brought back - ie, Dave Solon has at least one and then there's Paul Schusters "Baby". There's also the '37 convertible brougham that was restored by Gus Sousa that was as bad as, if not worse, than "Baby". And Kelly Hinegardner did a beautiful job on the '38 convert he restored, tho that one wasn't all that bad to start with - perhaps close to this convertible.
So I hope somebody can get this one that won't street rod it. It's to rare a find.0 -
Looks like Dave "I got too many hudson convertibles already" Sollon might have got this one...
Good job!
At least it will get taken care of and put back to how it should be!
and some of the convertibles he's brought back, he deserves a nice one to start with....
Oh well, someday...
I still aspire for that lonely stepdown coupe!0 -
GONE! BIN took it!
Anyone know this person, seems to be a Hudson guy!0 -

For the record, this car was bought by my son, Nick.0 -
I'm glad someone responsible got it. Every Hudson that gets put back on the road is good for all of us. Niels0

10k is still a lotta dough for something that has to be completely restored...
But this one doesn't look all that bad - the firewall is not rusted and the jambs look pretty good so this one may be mostly surface rust
Good Luck with the resto!0 -
There is a great interview with Richard Sheldrew, one of our chapter members ,on his 47 Hudson convertable on John Fromm's video of the 2005 Reno National. Richard made a beautiful car out of a "hulk". I highly recomend John's videos!0

I remember those cars from about 40 years ago, No one wanted it then because it was rough and owner wanted to much for it then. Always wondered what happened to it, I think Tommy Sutton originally found them.0

This looks to be a great buy. Seller is even going to deliver car to Canonsburg on Sunday! Now I have to clean out a bay at the garage this weekend. (That sure beats taking empty trailer to Maryland and loaded one back.)0

Nick's convertible was delivered today. It is a 1948 C8, not 1949 C8 as originally listed on e-bay. That makes it quite rarer. One of 65 C8 convertibles made in 1948, not one of 596 C8 convertibles made in 1949. Either way, it is well worth the moneey for restoration project.0
