Loose Valve Guides
Hi Hudson Mechanics,
Do you guys know if loose valve guides will cause an engine to have low compression if everything else in the engine is good? I think I may have this situation but I have no idea if loose valve guides is what is causing it. Thanks for any discussion or thread leads that discusses this. Rob

I doubt that loose guides would decrease compression. That is..unless the loose giudes caused the valve seats to erode or the valves to burn. When doing a compression test, inject some oil in the cylinders and if the comprssion rises, You have bad rings. Additional oil will not help bad valve seating.0
