Pacemaker Window Crank Knobs and Bezels

Hi Guys,
I've been working for the last month or two on making some Knobs and Bezels for my 51 Pacemaker. I made them by making molds out of silicone rubber and then casting them in polyurethane resin. I have found there is a lot can go wrong just like anything else when you are first learning it but some of them look really good. I havent done much with coloring the resin yet but it can be done. The natural color of the resin matches the steering wheel I had made by backwards unlimited so I am going to use the natural colored ones for my convertible. Here is a couple of pics. Rob

  • How did Pacemaker end up being Pacer? Oh Well. I hope you guys know what I meant. LOL:lol:
  • Hi Folks,
Here are some more pics of the knobs and bezels and also the door panel I've been working on for the 51 pacemaker convertible. I was thinking maybe I could make some knobs and bezels for other guys in the club if there is any interest in them. Rob

Those knobs look very good. You have done a great job.

How about writing about it for the WTN with some pictures. You would have alot greater exposure than on the forum. I'm sure there are many out there that want good looking knobs again.

Those look great, Rob. Did you cast any for the antenna knob? I'm sure there's a market for all of these.
  • Great job Rob, I have a 1950 Pacemaker Club Coupe and i am in need of four (4) knobs and six (6) bezels, my interior is light gray and maroon so I think the ones you used on your conv. would go well with my also. I am interested in some so let me know. Jim
  • Hi Jim,
I'll send you a PM and discuss your knobs and bezels. Rob
  • Hi Folks,
A while ago RL Chilton asked on this thread if I had made any of the antenna knobs and it got me to thinking about it. I thought why not try it so I did. Thanks for the idea RL. Here are some pics of the results. They turned out really good and the hole for the set screw is threaded into the knob. I'm still working on getting different colors but it is turning out to be the hard part of this. I think I will succeed but its going to take a while. I will sell these to anyone who is interested. Rob

  • How much do you want for a set of them?

Wow. Those look great! Nice job
  • Thanks guys for the compliments. I'm not sure what to charge for them. How much would you guys pay for them and feel like you got a good deal?
Its exciting to see that there is interest in them. What other small plastic or rubber parts do you think there is a need for? Rob

just installed one of Rob's antenna knob sets.

Really a first class piece and transaction. The pieces came out great and he even went the extra bit to include a new screw.

Great to have someone else stepping up to take care of their fellow Hudsonites.

Received my knobs and bezels last week and what a terrific job that Rob has done, he is great to deal with and nothing was too much trouble.

Wow, Rob! Must've missed this thread. Glad you followed through with the idea. Where can I get my set?? Drop me an e-mail.
  • Hi Guys,
Thanks for all of the good words about the knobs. So far they are only available in the Ivory or Off White color. Hopefully in the future I will be making colors but I don't know when. I haven't really heard any advice on how to price them so for now this will be the prices:

Pacemaker Window Crank Knobs: $8 ea.

Pacemaker Window and Door Handle Bezels: $10 ea.

Stepdown Antenna Knob and Bezel: $30 a set

For any order that will fit in a small USPS flat rate box shipping is $5

I have been trying to get the Stepdown Shift Knobs made but as you can imagine I'm still trying to get the colored insets of the ship and castle and 4 pronged design at the end of the knob to come out properly.

I do have the signal switch handle knobs; I havent sold any yet but they are available for $6 each.

If you'd like more info just post it in this thread or shoot me a PM.
I don't really know how long I'll be doing this casting but so far its a lot of fun and hopefully I can help some of you guys out with your cars. Keep the suggestions coming if you have them. Thanks. Rob

    steve
  • Hi Steve,
Here is few pics of what the Signal Light Switch Knob looks like:

If you will send me the old bezel I will try to match it but I'm not sure how successful I'll be. I know I can make them that are blue but what color of blue is yet to be determined. I'll send you a private message (PM). Rob
  • I've started having some success with a blue color. Here are some parts I've done up in the blue:

  • VERY - VERY - NICE

  • Here is a pic of the door lock knobs and I also did some parts in green. The green parts that are closest are a lighter green than the others. This wasnt intentional. I'm not sure what color of green I should be shooting for or what color of blue either for that matter. Rob

  • Rob,
Those knobs are beautiful and I would like to get four of them for my Pacemaker. How do I contact you to place the order? The green ones are what I want and they will finish off my interior perfectly.

Please let me know how to place my order.

  • Hi Geoff,
I would be happy to sell you some knobs. The knobs are $8 each plus $5 shipping. Its great to know they will help you finish off your restoration. I will send you a PM (Private Message) with the details. Rob
  • Hi Hudsonites,
I finally got some resin that takes coloring well. Here are some bezels cast in the different pigments that I currently have. It should also be possible to mix the pigments together to get other colors; although I havent experimented with that yet. What colors would you folks like to see for your hudsons? Rob

Very nice! The red (lower right) is spot on what I had in mind, and that green is close enough for my purposes (when the time comes).
  • Rob,
You'll have to pardon my ignorance, but how will I receive the PM? And how will I know when it arrives?

    Thanks, Geoff
  • Hi Geoff,
Sorry, I should have been more clear. At the top of your screen here there should be a notation that says new messages. You just click on that and then read the message. But why dont you just call me at 360-384-6549 and we can do the transaction on the phone or if you like we can do email. My email address is HETdiner1000@comcast.net. Remove the HET. Just email me and I will send you the details. So phone or email or PM, whatever works. If you have trouble just leave a message here on the thread and we will go from there. Thanks. Happy Hudsoning :) Rob

  • Steve,
I sent you an email. Its weird that that PM just seemed to have dissapeared. I went to my sent PMs and it showed it but when I tried to open it there was nothing. Rob

  • Just got my turn signal and shift knobs from Rob, pretty cool! Thanks again! I'll post some pictures when I get the chance.
