question about breather tube on 308 engine
hi im new to the group and i got alot of questions.i have a 51 hudson commodore with a 308 engine(not the original engine)any way i'm wondering about the peculiar hole in the left valve cover.i've tried to research it and i guess its some kinda breather?could anyone give me some advice on this or tell me where i can get one.thanks

There should be a "road draft tube" attached to it, which exits out the bottom of the engine compartment. This is intended to ventilate the crankcase by sucking the fumes out while fresh air goes in through the cap on the oil filler. This was typical of all cars until the PCV system was made standard in the 60s. If you just have a hole in the cover you need the proper tube and maybe the bracket that holds it. I'm sure someone on the list can provide one. I may have one myself.0
