75 years of dirt!
Today I sand blasted the old paint off the air cleaner. The hole you see in the top that goes down to the carb, had 75 years of dried dirt. I am suggesting if you have this style to clean this with brake clean and some rags, and to blow it out with air. Also the cap has a filter that as full of dirt and brake clean and air, made it look clean and new.
Will make a note for the next owner to do this 75 years from now.

It's the dirt that probably preserved it. At least if you live in a place where rust is a problem.0

I cleaned all the dirt off a 1966 Rambler I had back around 1989 - the car fell apart!!!!

IMHO the 232 seven main bearing AMC six cylinder was one of the best six cylinder automobile engines built in this country. Along with the old Chevy stove bolt six and the Chrysler slant six.
(Now, that should start a rousing argument!!!!!!!!!)
I regularly put 200,000, 225,000 miles on every one of the Ramblers I had over the years with very little maintenance and no troubles at all. Only reason I junked the cars was the bodies rusted out.
Only reason I stopped driving them was I couldn't find any more!!!!
