1929 Hudson LWB 18" Wire Wheels

Hi,

I have a set of 5 18" wire wheels from the LWB 29 Hudsons that I am contemplating selling. They were on a speedster car (non-hudson) and I am likely going to change them over to disc wheels. The wheels seem to run quite true, have had at speed and long trips, and we recently powder coated them black. Cosmetically they look quite good with minimal nicks or pitting. I may end up posting them on ebay, any thoughts? Kelley Salt Lake City

Kelley, what sort of money are we looking at? I am starting the restoration of a '29 speedster, and could be interested.

Hi Kelley, Welcome to our website.....
  • Hi Brownie!
Geoff, we were thinking about $750 per wheel with lock ring (which are chrome).

My 29 Hudson had 19" wire wheels.
Did the custom bodies use 18" ?

L.w.b. custom bodied Hudsons used 18" wheels. They also had a different front axle and radiator shell, as the chassis was lower than s.w.b. $750 each is way out of my price range sorry, as it equates to $5,000 in our currency for the five wheels. Put them on ebay and see if they sell at that.
  • The black unrestored club sedan was chris' he sold that a while back to Merrill Maxfield. In fact Merrill bought his 28 too. Mr. Nebeker who had the brown 29 club sedan sold his earlier this year.

Geoff, I'm not really certain what these wheels would/should/could bring, at one time I tracked a few here and there that were bringing about $1K per wheel but boy, I dunno.......

I'd rather see someone in the club get them directly than go thru ebay but I will if I must. I want to be fair on the price I guess just unsure of where to start as I haven't seen any of these out there for a while, much less ones ready to roll. Any input is appreciated.

I'll contact the owner of the car I am rebuilding and let him negotiate with you.
