Where can you get Stainless Steel trim pieces?

Does anyone know where you can get stainless steel external trim pieces. I have found sources for trim clips and channels that the trim snaps on to, but no sources for the actual trim. I will buff my existing trim out, but some is rather dented. Can pound it out, but would like to know if replacements are available.



Also, anyone know of a "good quality" re-chromer? I think I can save the bumpers, but the trunk ornament and trunk handles could use replating.

    There may be a good chrome plater in your area...where do you live? One way to find the best plater is to ask friends in your local old car club or Hudson chapter. They've had experience, and will give you a mouthful. Also, you have to determine whether you're going for 'show quality' or merely a good quality level of chroming; this will affect the price. And be very careful if any of your trim is cast metal (pot metal, white metal); not all shops can do a good job filling pits. In fact, some of them might ruin your hard-to-replace trim.     Was Wondering If You Could Post Your Sources For Clips And Channels? I Know About K-gap, Was Wondering If There Is Other Places For The Channels.

    I'm pretty sure K-Gap has these channels made for them specifically for Hudsons, so you probably won't find another source to compare. I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time!



    The trim you're talking about sounds like the long stainless strips on a stepdown? You won't find them being reproduced anywhere. All you can do is buy them piece meal here and there. You'll see stuff on ebay once in a while.



    If they're only dented, it's not too hard to carefully tap/smooth out the dents, and then file/sand/buff them until they look new again. That's the nice thing about the stainless.

    i have ordered them from k-gap, but one of the ones that i ordered was the wrong one. i e-mail k-gap but havent got a reply from them. i need the one for a 53 hornet that goes just below the window all the way around. its about 13/16 wide. i had ordered cat. #248 but thats not the right one, its only about 5/8 wide.

    Try Bill Albright in Fontana. He has a number of parts cars that you may be able to get the channels from. It will depend greatly on what you need. Most of his parts cars are 4 door but with a little work you can make it work. I don't think anyone has reproduced those channels. I have heard other people talk about how they have taken their good sections and cut them apart and use pieces to hold the SS in place instead of the entire channel. Bill also has a lot of SS but some pieces are hard to come by.

    I live in north central Arkansas ( near Mountain Home ). I iwll have to check with the local car club to see if there are any local re-chromers per your suggestion ( THANKS! ). I am looking for good quality but not show quality. I had "some" experience getting parts of my Harley done, seems that experience applies to the Hudson as I could definitely see the difference in the quality of chrome from shop to shop.
