12 Volt conversion questions, gauges?
Converting a 1948 Super Six to 12 volts, using a 12 volt Hudson generator.
I've pretty much figured out most of this. But I'm a little concerned about the gauges on the car. I know that temp is based on a thermal resistor, so I suspect I need to impede the flow to the gauge by putting a resistor (? ohms) across the terminals to divide the voltage. I suspect the same is true for the gas gauge.
I'll just use a switching power supply for the 6v radio. Switching power supplies are nice because they don't generate heat and waste power. I'll also just use a 12v coil and regulator.
I have a set of 12v lights, and am building an LED controller for all the signal lights. Should make the car nice and bright at night.
Has anyone here done this before?
Thanks;
-Chris

Use a Zenier Diode on your gauges, works great0
