Soliciting help for Czech Republic Hudson owner

I've been corresponding with a guy from the Czech Republic who owns a 1949 C8 4 door (the only known Hudson in his country). The car is a basket case. If it were in the US we would part it out. Imagine how hard it will be to restore. I've sold Rene a few rechromed parts and offered to give him many other parts to begin restoration. I'm hoping that HET members will help him out too. If you have the following items, please ship to me and I'll ship them to Rene. He needs a Com horn ring and button, front directional housings, bezels and lenses, the clip for the long two piece stainless steel strips that runs under the headlights (This was one piece on Hudsons sold but replacement was 2 pieces with the clip in the center), a set of trim on the bottom of the doors, front vent window frames, interior sunvisor brackets, pot-metal piece above the radio on the dash that says "8", the two chrome pieces that say "Hudson" on the glove box doors, the chrome name plate that say "Hudson8" on the front fenders. Please no junk as he already have them. Later on I will include a scan of Rene's Hudson and the first car he restored which is a Polish station wagon. He describes the car as similar to a Chevy Nomad. Rene's last name is Kaudelka and his email address is oldengine@seznam.cz.

You can email me at GMC46golden@aol.com with questions, etc.

Thanks, Glen

Glen, why not send either a letter to the editor, or a short article, to the WTN along with the photo of Mr. Kaudelka's Hudson (when you obtain it)? You could appeal for the parts and of course it will have a wider audience than this forum. You could even ask people to e-mail you to confirm that the particular part they have to offer, is still needed at the time they read your article.

He can access manuals for his car in the online library, if that would be a help. Have both a 48-49 Service Manual and a 48-49 Parts book there.

  • I will be posting scans of his Hudson and the Polish stationwagan he is restoring as soon as I figure out how to post scans someone has sent me. If I don't get the help I need from forum members I will try Jon's suggestion and do something in the WTN.
  • Rene is not fluent in English. I only understand 70-80 percent of what he is saying. Ken, email me at GMC46golden@aol.com. I do have a pair of front bumper guards I'd like you to take over for me. I do have photos of Rene's Hudson, but don't know how to post photos on the forum that someone has sent me. I will post them. Brownie Petersen is going to come over and show me how to do this. I will also post photos of the Polish stationwagon. I was so impressed with the work he has done on this car and that is the reason I decided to help him. I know he can restore his Hudson.

Sorry Glen that I was out of town. Good to see that you got it posted.
