36-47 wheel cylinder interchange number
I tried the search function and it is worthless as tits on a boar hog.
I'm looking for a front wheel cylinder part number that I can purchase locally at NAPA or some such parts store.
The casting # on the one I have is C 13005 (right front)
Anyone have a number I can use?

Try '57-'58 Cadilac, I recall they were the same on some cad models as '36-'47 Hudson.0

Thanks!!! Napa has them in stock. (crossed to NAPA # UP 7564 right and UP 7563 left)0

Back to the drawing board!
They are the same EXCEPT for the inlet hole that the hose screws into, The original type - hose screws into cylinder and is sealed using a copper washer. On the new type (7564) the hole uses a flared type fitting and is sealed with the flare.
Wonder if an adaptor is made that will allow the new type to be used? all other things seem to be the same -----0 -
Kanter advertises them, http://www.kanter.com/eCatalog/00044.htm (page 43) , but they might have the same problem (that is, they assume that 37-47 are the same). A bit pricey, in my opinion.
I think new cylinders are out there but I can't recall which Hudson vendor sells them. You can check vendor web links on my Repro Parts page at http://www.detailedconcepts.net/Repro_Table.pdf0 -
Kdancy - If the inlet hole on NAPA #7564 is 3/8"-24 you can make them work with the correct hoses. For '36 to '39 use Wagner Hose #F 57792. For '40 to '47 use Wagner hose # F 79367.0

Kdancy - The above is for the fronts. For the rears you would need an adaptor (Edelmann # 258430 - 1/4 x 3/16) to go from the cyl. to the 1/4" steel brk. line Norm

Guys - I Spoke with NAPA Brakes online tech and they crossed the above number over to #4804 Right for the 7/16x 20 inlet fitting that seals with a washer. It is the same wheel cylinder with different inlet. (the 7564 number was $21.99 at NAPA)
Fits various Pontiacs and 58-59 Cadillac Feetwood - some up to 64 (Hudsonrules mentioned this in his post)
Will be friday before it's in and then we will see!
Herm, I have new hoses on and was hoping not to have to replace them or use adaptors unless that is the only recours. They are for the fronts. Also would be good to post the hose number info over at the HET site. I am hoping to start a parts interchange page so we will all have info on hand in one area for a quick read.0 -
Kdancy - When you get the cyls. make sure they have the right pistons. Norm0
-
Herm- They are 1" bore.0
-
Kdancy - I meant the shape of the piston. Are the pistons indented on the outer end, for the link to the brake shoe to fit into? Some brake cyls. have pistons that are flat on the outer end to fit other types of brake shoes. I've ran across this before. Norm0

Herm, the ones I have from NAPA at this point have the indented pistons. I'll check the new ones when I get them tomorrow.0

Ok, picked the NAPA 4804 up and installed it. Made in the USA.
Right off the bat I noticed the casting was better made then the others. The mounting flange for the flex hose was much better surface and the reason I couldn't get a leak free connection at that point on the first one I put on.
Napa price on this one was 34.81.
Been doing some research and I think the Raybestas #WC4804 is the same exact one and probably the manufacture for NAPA.

Took the 37 out for it's first test drive, fingers crossed!! Most all went well!
Ran well, shifted well. Need to check my brake light again, stopped working, and the speedo doesn't work, suspect cable related. Tweak out a few things and should be good to go!
It's been quite a project, came to me in boxes, buckets and cans. Parts of 4 or 5 Hudsons to make this one! A lot of help from Hudsonites on this board and others or I couldn't have done it!
Many Many thanks-------0
