door locks - stepdown

Are the two door and four door stepdown door locks the same? I need one or two with a key for the '54 coupe. Turns out my keys won't work with the locks that came on the car. Aarrrgh.

    If you remove the locks a good locksmith can add or remove the "waffers" to match the key, usually. Another option keep the locks and get some key blanks and have 'em cut to the "wafer pins". The cylinders should be the same and only the front doors have them... But theyshould be the same as the ignition key , so if you change the lock cylinders you will have 3 keys unless the locksmith does the change as above, rendering the the issue nothing more than buying new lock and keys. 48-53 are same for respective sides.

    what about the trunk? is it the same. i was kind of kicking around getting a locksmith to key them all the same. maybe down the road.

    I took a door lock to a locksmith. He had a key made in 20 minutes that fit both locks and the ignition. Charged me $15. On the Hornets and Commodores, the trunk and glove box are the same key (different from doors and ignition), but on the less expensive cars there was only one key.....as far as I know.

    Same experience as ski4life65. But I had all my locks keyed the same.

    The original thought, was to have the trunk and glove box(s) keyed differently so a valet parking attendent could drive your car, but not have access to your goodies. Might be difficult to find a valet that could drive your old Hudson!
