We rebuild good cores using the pertonix. Have 6 volt pos. gd. and 12 volt neg gd. pertronix units in stock.

What do you charge for your units (6volt Pos ground)/0 -

Likewise, I've changed both my 1954 Kaiser and my 1948 Hudson to 12 volt negative ground. Do you have cores for both? What part, if any, does the vacuum advance play on petronix distributors?

Jason,
The pertronix unit runs $149.00 including the resistor. We rebuild the dist. including new bushings, dist. cap & rotor. Housing is media blasted and painted. Vacuum advance works just the same as before rebuild. Total rebuild is $245.00

I have converted my spare distribotor(for my 308 Hornet engine) to Pertronix Ignitor. The Part # 1362P6 (P6=pos grd/6volts). My installation require the removal of the"TAB" that the points are secured to. This required dissasembly of the Dist.to get at the rivets....
The engine ran well, but I broke the trans (unrelated to Petronix) before I could get an idea as to how well the Petronix worked. Check with Pertronix in San Dimas Phone 909-599-5955 they won't sell direct but will give tech advise and the name of a reseller. TIP order from someone outside your state and avoid the sales tax...It will drop shipped Pertronix anyway.0 -

good info, after reading all this good feedback on pertronix i'm pretty much sold on the idea, sounds like the way to go.thanks0 -
Rkshud, I have installed a pertronix ignitor and coil on a 54 Hornet, as stated I had to pull the tab for the points but everything fit well. Really improved the starting and performance. They do recommend replaceing the old plug wires with resistor type.0

I have done the conversion to my 55 Ford and my 68 442. Heven't found a Hudson yet. Both units work great. The 55 was converted to 12v.0

Anyone know if there is a part number for a IGS distributor, 6 volt, 6 cylinder positive ground?
or will the IAT distributor kit work?
Curious, since I got a 50, and it seems the IGS distributors are a breed of their own, there was no listing for any of the IGS series, under Dodge, or Chrysler, or the like...
anyone ever convert one?0 -
Give Pertronix a call at 909 599-5955. The gal that I spoke to seemed a little short of patience, but had the answers to my questions.

Give them a call and talk to a tech guy. You will need the model munder of the distributer. I am about 2 miles away and took my 53 in to them. Nice people, although very busy. The tech guy looked at what I had went to the back room and came back with a part number. If they do not have a listing for your distributer, you can send it to them and they will fit a unit for about $250. For them to provide this service the distributer must be in good order, they do not rebuild.
