Speedometer gear needed

I will also post it here for those that don't frequent that venue.. I need a 16 tooth pinion gear for a 49 transmission . Have $ or trade an 18 tooth. 16 tooth is the correct gear for an overdrive with 4.11 rear. 18 tooth is 4.59 gear

    If you don't find what you want, go to Studebaker parts dealers. That's where I found mine. Make sure it is the right length and the teeth are angled the right way. Some are angled opposite.

    Studebaker definitely used the right one for a two lever B-W transmission. I don't think they used the same as the the Hudson (single lever) transmission. Rod can you elaborate which transmission you have?

    Just go by the S-W part number on the pinion and you'll be fine.

    Nick s, you are right. I had 2 cars mixed up. Studebaker is not the same.

    Also if I remember, the Studebaker SW number is different than the Hudson SW number for the same gear. guess it was to help protect the interests of each factories dealers and parts distribution.

    I dont know ,that could get confusing in a part store stock inventory,

    That might be the reason the number on my gears is different than the Hudson book.It clearly is a 19 tooth gear and fits/works perfectly. Somewhere, there probably is an interchange list available only to Speedometer shops.

    Does anyone know if there is an equivalent gear for the single lever? I am also looking for a 15 tooth p/n448295.

    The Studebaker parts look close to the right shape from pictures.
