howdy all!

we had another meeting for the Golden Gate International today, nailing down the final details.

just so you know, there are only 100 spots on the Alcatraz tour, we will NOT add more later. each boat holds 50 people and we're getting the 1st two boats. bring good sturdy walking shoes.

if you're staying in a hotel/motel OTHER than the Marriott you will not be allowed to park on the grounds unless you are bringing in parts/cars for the swap meet.
parking is FREE for those staying at the host hotel.

we are only providing centerpieces for the 50 tables in the main dining room.

we will provide a list of local restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores, dry cleaners, laundromats, and other amenities.

the tour is for Hudson-Essex-Terraplane cars ONLY. all others will be turned away.

we are only providing 500 goodie bags, which will actually contain goodies for the first time ever.

bail money will NOT be provided for those who end up having too much fun at the Wine & Cheese party.

see you in July!

No parking unless you're a guest of the hotel - well I guess I see their point. So that puts Brand X drivers out in the cold. I wasn't going anyway but this in itself would keep me away. If you don't have a Hudson and are coming with a Brand X and staying at another hotel what are you supposed to do - walk or take a cab everyday??? Like Ken U says to many problems.

will be going but will take tours that are listed on our own as the rates are much cheaper than the marked up rates listed in the wtn.many friends have been on these tours and confirmed the rates in the wtn are very high.

I'm really looking forward to it. $100 for a nice hotel in downtown San Fran, can beat that! I appreciate all the work that's gone into putting this together.

I'll be relying the trolleys and taxis, no parking required:)

    See you Guys in July!

I've been to many Hudson nationals , this just has an unfriendly tone to it.
Sounds like" if you can't afford the best , stay away"
  • Lostmind - I agree with you completely ,I got somewhat of a bad taste from the last national.
This sounds like its starting to go downhill before it starts.
I know putting on an event like this is a lot of work but you guys did ask to do it didnt you ?
Its just sounds like having us all there is just a big bother. .And unless we can bring a note from our bank you dont want us,

Re. This parking thing . There aren't enough rooms for all the folks wanting to come at the host hotel, right? Does this mean that most of the Hudsons will not be allowed to park in the host hotel area during the day either? What I mean is that many of the cars at the meet won't be able to be parked together on the field, since the only cars permitted on the field are the ones registered at the host hotel. I presume there is a gate to enter the field with a registration card needed to enter. They did this at the San Diego Regional, and the Cadillac National in Anaheim( Doubletree). If that's the case, what is the sense of a National Meet if only a few of the registrants can show there cars in one location? Again I ask. Where are the trailers being stored for the week?

I had to go get a bunch of crackers (all the bitching) in order to read about this meet here on the Forum. I guess it is good that we get the negative as well as the positive. I would hope that when it is time to have a meet in the area where you all live that you will jump in and support the effort so that you can put on a meet that will get great reviews from everyone? Since I live out west, (only a two day effort) and it is often too far to drive to the easterm meets I plan to be there and remain verry excited about what the committee has planned. I plan to have my car there so I guess I will not see most of the problems that you mention.

I did that in Gettysburg - went on the battlefield tour on my own. Easy drive over, tons of free parking at the site, saw the cyclorama, great tour bus guide and a nice lunch at the info center at a reasonable price. No hustle to get from one attraction to another. Very enjoyable way to do it.

In Seattle in 2004 the hotel did charge for parking of Brand-X cars - but that was for everybody. I guess bookings were down so they were trying to make up the difference. Also, in Seattle, which I attended with the late Cloyd Steiner we booked a room on our own about a week before the meet - at $20 cheaper than the club rate. I think the parking fee was $10 a day, tho I may have that wrong - so we still came out $10 a day ahead of club rate. I know that prices are figured on amount of square footage required for meeting rooms, club store room, etc but that $10, saving, while not much, helped me afford to go to Seattle so I could enjoy at least one west coast national (at the time I was living in Maine so west coast nationals were a tad out of reach).

Look, I agree that he prices are higher, but this is an expensive area of the US. I registered the first week the rooms became available, & for all 7 days. Lucked out. However, SF, California is a congested area & for security reasons( and freeloaders) the parking lots are gate controlled for guests. That's cool, but are all our hudsons allowed to be parked the field, whether or not they are Marriot guests? What about folks flying in with car rentals? How do they get to,and park, at the show field? Same for local SF residents, who will probably go home at night? I want to see ALL our vintage cars in one location. Six months ago I inquired where will we be parking our trailers. I was told that they are working that out. What's the answer?

Everyone complains about the heat too. At this meet it should be in the 70's and very comfortable.

  • You may not be able to park you Hudson at the Hudson meet ,
But - "we are only providing 500 goodie bags, which will actually contain goodies for the first time ever"
    :-?

    - or a Chinese fire drill.
I simply can't imagine if someone drives 2,000 miles in their Hudson and stays at another hotel they won't be allowed to park at the host hotel. That's beyond comprehension.
Given the hotel was sold out the first month registration was opened what's with "only providing 500 goodie bags" does this mean only the people who are registered at the host hotel get the goodie bags??
Seems like every day the meet gets closer there are more and more questions. Somebody on their planning committee had better step up pretty soon with some answers or there's gonna be more than a few cancellations and it'll turn into a Californian's only national mee.

I doubt if we will attend this National, sounds like the hotel does not really care about the Hudson people even if they have to leave thier car at home. I am just a few hundred miles away and will not be there. Perhaps next year even if the National is held back east. The Bay area is expensive and crowded, not my cup of tea.

So by the looks of it I'm too late to even get in is that right? I was considering making one last sojourn over that way, but if it is going to be that difficult I'll flag it away.

Nevada- I do not know if you tried this... "If you are a Club member and are renewing, it is important that the first time you access the site that you use the Create Account link under the login. This will link your website access with your membership account so you dont create a new duplicate account."

If this does not work and you need help email: webmaster at hetclub dot org

Rick Clark also mentioned looking here, "Take a look at the 'Forum Registration Instructions' (bottom of the Index Page of the forum)" -

Sent in my registration last night. I am now offically signed up. I plan to watch the HET website every few days to see what is happening. See you all there...

By the way, thanks for the update information. I am staying at the meet hotel and will have my trailer there so that knowledge helps me out a lot.
  • howdy all!

    let me clear things up a little here;

all Hudson-Essex-Terraplane cars are welcome to park in the host hotel lot.
we'll make room, I might have to park outside myself.
what we don't want is a bunch of rental cars and RVs and Brand X taking up space that should be for H-E-T members and their cars.

The Blackhawk is well worth the drive. Very impressive --- the cars and the way they're displayed.
